A stolen digital photo frame has been returned to its owner in North Watford thanks to innovative crime prevention tool enigmaTAG™.
The photo frame was one of the items recovered during a search warrant executed by the North Watford Neighbourhood Team in Leggatts Way in North Watford earlier this month.
As soon as the frame was identified (via UV light) that it had been marked with enigmaTAG™ a colourless liquid containing micro particles it was taken to Scientific Services based at Police Headquarters and using specialist readers the owner was identified via a database.
The Leaford Crescent burglary victim is due to be reunited with his photo frame. Without the enigmaTAG™, it would have been very difficult to identify the owner and prove that it had been stolen, said Neighbourhood Sergeant Julie Storey, who helped pilot enigmaTAG™ in North Watford last summer.
Not only is enigmaTAG™ a deterrent, we want to encourage more residents to security mark their personal property, so we can significantly reduce burglaries and catch those few people responsible.
